Salobrena free wi-fi access
There is a free wi-fi access point outside the Ayuntamiento building. At present there is no comfortable seating or much needed shaded areas during the summer months around the front of the building so it’s a case of parking yourself on a concrete bench with your laptop balanced precariously on your knees in the sunshine. But hey … it is free access and top marks to the council for making this service available … Motril, please take note!

Just curious, How come I can access WIFI here, and not in the town. How do they free it up so that I don’t need a password to access it.. All others seem to be password locked.

Actually most home wifi networks are not secured (unfortunately). If you have a password on your home wifi then count yourself lucky. By not having a password you leave yourself open to “hackers”. It is very easy to see what you are doing online and copying your homebanking password or credit card details as you enter them is a breeze for a skilled hacker.
But if you DO want to have an unsecured network you need to access the configuration of your WiFi router and remove either WPA or WEP security depending on what is in use.
