Situated on the Costa Tropical, Salobrena is a beautiful Andalucian coastal town built on a craggy rock overlooking the Mediterranean and Sierra Nevada mountains. At the top of the rock sits the Arab castle. The maze of narrow streets beneath the castle offer a charming introduction of Moorish Spain to the visitor.
Casa Mediterranea has been renovated to an extremely high standard and offers comfortable and spacious accommodation. The house is set amongst the traditional white Moorish houses of the old town of Salobrena. The pretty private inner courtyard with dip pool provides an ideal hideaway and the further two large terraces offer space to relax and enjoy the sun and surroundings.
The house has one double bedroom and one twin bedroom each having its own private or en-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms are accessed from the inner courtyard, one with its own separate entrance doorway from the inner terrace and one with its own private terrace with good views over the town, Mediterranean, Sierras and Salobrena. Further sleeping accommodation is available by the use of the sofa bed in the main house or two single folding beds on the open mezzanine level above the kitchen area (not suitable for young children).
The sitting room and kitchen are accessed from the front of the house and offer well equipped accommodation. With airconditioning in the master bedroom, jacuzzi bath, refrigerators on the top terrace and adjoining the inner courtyard, free to air satellite English channels, wifi internet access, views to the sea and mountains, this house really does offer excellent facilities.
It is only a short walk from many very good bars and restaurants and is a 15 minute walk to the beaches. The Chiringuito bars along the mile long beach offer a variety of refreshments and are exceptionally good value. It is an ideal location to relax and enjoy the activities that Andalucia has to offer. It should be noted that the streets of the old town of Salobrena are steep in places.
This is the old Andalucian part of Spain, complete with fiestas, whitewashed villages, Moorish castles and some of the best and least expensive food and wine to be found. The restaurants and tapas bars are very good and the fish is excellent. There is history to be found everywhere, from the Alhambra Palace in Granada (just 50 minutes by car) to the Alpujarras region. The coastal towns of Almeria, Almunecar, Motril and Nerja are also well worth a visit.
